General maintenance & cleaning instructions for Porcelain Stoneware

Basic cleaning/Building cleaning:
Porcelain stoneware must be thoroughly cleaned before the floor is used. Basic cleaning aims to remove production residues, cement film from laying and jointing as well as construction dust and other dirt from the construction. Such cleaning should be carried out with an acidic cleaner, which is effective against inorganic dirt of the above-mentioned type; Bricmate recommends "FILA Deterdek PRO". Deterdek is a professional acidic cleaner specially developed for ceramics and is effective against inorganic dirt such as limescale deposits and cement film etc.

Carefully follow the dilution and procedure instructions.

Daily cleaning:
For daily use, a microfiber cloth with water or "vinegar spray" is recommended. Can also be used on other surfaces with Porcelain Stoneware!

"Vinegar spray": Mix 100 ml 24% Vinegar and a few drops of washing-up liquid with 300 ml water in a spray bottle.

On larger surfaces, a mildly alkaline or pH-neutral, non-film-forming floor cleaner, is most suitable. Bricmate recommends "FILA Cleaner PRO" which is a professional pH-neutral cleaner for all types of hard floors that can withstand water.

Stain removal:
Stains from inorganic dirt, such as lime residues etc., as well as organic dirt, such as grease stains, are primarily removed according to the instructions for daily cleaning. Use a dish/scrub brush to help. Scouring pads can also make it easier.

FILA Deterdek and Fila PS87 are recommended against more severe inorganic and organic dirt. Carefully follow the dilution and procedure instructions.

Stain examples:
Food stains, beer/wine, grease or metal scrap of aluminum (light metal) are removed with alkaline detergent in water, such as FILA PS87, an all-purpose cleaner, a coarse cleaner or baking soda. Cleaning products for glass-ceramic hobs is effective against metal scrap from knives etc. Always rinse thoroughly afterwards and before handling food on, for example, a kitchen worktop.

Machine oil stains, asphalt stains, ink, glue, scuff marks from rubber or candles/paraffin wax are removed with organic solvent such as white spirit, acetone, technical alcohol or cleaner’s naphtha.

Rust stains, limescale stains or scratch marks on steel/iron are removed with acidic cleaning agents in water, such as FILA Deterdek, acetic acid/spirit vinegar or citric acid. Paint stains that have dried are removed mechanically with a razor blade, possibly combined with a heat gun.
